Missing East Patchogue woman, 61, has been located, police say

A missing East Patchogue woman, who may have the early stages of dementia, has been located after having been reported missing Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

Police had issued a Silver Alert for Marie Merto, 61, of La Bonne Vie Drive, who was last seen sleeping at her home about 7 a.m. Friday.

Merto has been located unharmed, police said in a new release Wednesday.

The Silver Alert program is designed to inform local media, hospitals and law enforcement agencies when an elderly person or an individual with mental or cognitive disorders is missing.
