A mother and her daughter were killed in a collision Saturday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The victims were identified as Marie Sanacore, 73, of Beaver Trail, Coram, and her mother, Nellie Furino, 96, of the same address.

Police said Sanacore was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, and Furino was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where she died shortly after the accident.

According to a police report, Shuofang Yang was driving a 2013 Audi S4 on Adirondack Drive about 5 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn into westbound Middle Country Road in Selden and his vehicle collided with a Nissan Altima driven by Sanacore, who was traveling with her mother as a passenger eastbound on the roadway.

Yang, 22, of South Setauket, and his passenger, whom police did not identify, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
