Motorcyclist seriously injured in Shirley crash, police say

Suffolk County police are investigating the shooting of three people at a nightclub in North Patchogue early Sunday morning, Oct. 30, 2016. The shooting happened about 2:45 a.m. outside the V.I.P. Lounge at 620 Waverly Ave., according to a police report, but authorities were still trying to piece together the circumstances and other details. A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday night in a crash in Shirley, police said.

Richard Vilk, 48, of Yaphank, was driving his 2003 Harley-Davidson west on Crestwood Drive when he crashed into a 2006 Nissan Frontier about 5:20 p.m., Suffolk County police said in a news release.

Vilk was taken by a Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said. The other driver was not hurt.
