Motorcyclist who rear ended car in Holbrook has died, cops say

A motorcyclist who rear ended a car last weekend in Holbrook died Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

Jeffrey Montgomery, 24, of Holbrook was driving a 1999 Triumph south on Coates Avenue on Oct. 15 when his motorcycle struck the right rear wheel of a 2014 Mercedes-Benz, police said in a news release.

The crash happened shortly after 12:30 p.m., police said.

The Mercedes-Benz, driven by Brittany Onorato, was traveling north and attempting to make a left turn onto Leonard Street.

Montgomery was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries but Onorato, 28, of Holbrook, was not hurt, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. No charges were filed.
