A Mount Sinai woman died in a two-car crash on Route 25A late Friday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the woman, Ekaterina Blednykh, 39, was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota Camry heading west on Route 25A in Mount Sinai when the driver, Tejas Acharekar, 25, tried to make a left turn onto southbound Chestnut Street at about 11 p.m.

The Camry collided a 2005 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 23-year-old Kacy McLaughlin, that was heading eastbound on Route 25A.

Blednykh was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

McLaughlin, of Mastic Beach, and Acharekar, of Port Jefferson, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

There was no criminality suspected in the crash, police said.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652.
