A Yaphank man was arrested Tuesday and charged in the shooting death of a 38-year-old man outside his Holbrook home in October, police said.
Reginald Ross, 33, of 13 Lincoln Rd. was charged with second-degree murder in the death of John Williams, of 172 Geery Ave., police said.
No additional information was released Tuesday by Suffolk police concerning Ross. Homicide detectives were not available to comment on a possible motive in Williams' killing.
Suffolk County Police made the arrest along with the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. Ross will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.
Williams, 39, was discovered Oct. 14 lying outside his car with his feet inside, in front of his house on Geery Avenue, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police had responded after a 911 call reporting gunshots at about 6 a.m. Relatives said then that Williams had been preparing to go to work as a sprinkler repairman when someone fired shots into the front driver's side window.
