Third Suffolk shooting since Friday probed by cops

Suffolk police said they are searching for whoever fired gunshots at a home and car in Wyandanch on Wednesday afternoon, the third shooting in the area in less than a week.

One person inside the home on Venedia Drive was not injured. No one was inside the car parked outside the home in the 2:10 p.m. shooting, police said.

The latest gunfire in came a day after multiple gunshots were reported at 9:10 p.m. about 3 miles away in front of a home on Sterling Place in West Babylon. Bullets hit two unoccupied cars, police said.

On Friday, a 27-year-old man was shot to death at a home on South 29th Street in Wyandanch. Tehron Sims, who relatives said had recently returned from taking his 7-year-old son to Disneyland, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Suffolk police won't confirm whether the three shootings are connected but they are continuing to investigate.

Police are asking anyone with information to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
