Officer: Drunk Copiague man nearly rammed State Police car

A Copiague man was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated late Tuesday after nearly ramming his car into a marked State Police car on the Southern State Parkway in Babylon, police said.

Marcos P. Carpio of Copiague was driving west in a 1997 Volkswagen around 11:45 p.m. near Route 110 when he almost hit the State Police car, according to reports.

Police said an investigation revealed that Carpio was intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the State Police branch at Farmingdale, where he provided a breath sample of .14, police said.

Carpio was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic violations, police said.

He was due in First District Court in Central Islip on Feb. 12.
