A Massapequa man was killed and three others were hospitalized in a three-car crash just after noon Tuesday in West Babylon, Suffolk County police said.

Thomas Tighe, 51, of 40 McKinley Place, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tighe was traveling westbound on Edison Avenue when his 2002 Toyota Avalon was struck on the passenger side by a 2004 Chevy Impala, driven by Anthony Marcatante of North Lindenhurst. Marcatante, 49, had been traveling southbound on Lamar Street and was attempting to make a left onto eastbound Edison Avenue when he struck Tighe's vehicle, police said.

Tighe's Avalon then struck a 2000 Dodge Intrepid.

Marcatante was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip for neck pain. A passenger in the Intrepid, Marcos Portillo, 27, of Copiague, and the driver, Glen Saenz, 25, Wyandanch, went to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, for undisclosed injuries.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Suffolk County First Squad detectives are investigating, police said.
