Patchogue man charged with kidnapping, assaulting girlfriend

A Patchogue man has been arraigned on charges of kidnapping, assault and criminal mischief after beating his girlfriend and holding her hostage in her Manhattan apartment for nearly five hours, New York City authorities said.

Christopher Fenimore, 24, of 34 Lakeshore Dr., brutally beat his girlfriend, 20, in her East 81st Street apartment on March 3, breaking her wrist and bruising her face, according to sources.

Fenimore allegedly held his girlfriend captive for about five hours before fleeing, according to police reports. After he left the apartment, the woman called police.

"We didn't know any of this was happening," New York City police Det. Gina Sarubbi said.

Police said Fenimore surrendered on March 4 at the 19th Precinct on East 67th Street. He posted $2,500 bail and was released.

He was due back in court Tuesday, according to court records.
