A Wading River man was charged early Saturday morning with punching a woman in the face at a bar in Greenport, according to Southold Town police.

Paul Houpe, 22, was at the Rhumb Line Bar on Front Street at 2:40 a.m. when he got into a confrontation with a 37-year-old woman, police said.

Houpe punched the woman in the face, knocking her to the ground and causing a laceration above her left eye, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, police said. Details of her condition were not provided.
