Paul McQueen of Huntington Station seriously injured in bicycle collision with Jeep, police say

A bicyclist was seriously injured in Huntington Thursday after he veered into the path of an oncoming Jeep that then struck him, Suffolk police said.

Paul McQueen, 54, of Huntington Station, was riding north on Park Avenue north of Dix Hills Road at about 4:15 p.m., when he "apparently turned into the path" of a 2000 Jeep, police said.

McQueen was taken to Huntington Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition, police said.

The Jeep driver, John Heyman, 75, of Huntington, was not injured, police said.

The Jeep was impounded for safety checks, and the investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
