Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a sport utility vehicle while crossing the street Tuesday morning in Amityville.

Lora Rohner, 52, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was walking on Oak Street, west of Route 110, about 9:30 a.m. when she was hit by a 2002 Acura SUV making a left turn out of a parking lot to head east on Oak, Suffolk County police said.

Rohner was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, where police said she was pronounced dead.

The SUV driver Yeimy Pichardo-Cruz, 31, of Amityville, remained at the scene, police said. She was not injured.

No criminality is suspected, police said. The investigation is continuing, and the Acura SUV was impounded for a safety check.
