Pedestrian hit by minivan in Bridgehampton seriously injured, cops say

A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a minivan Sunday night on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, Southampton Town police said.

Police said the injuries were not life threatening and the victim, whose identity was not released, was airlifted by Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The accident occurred at 9:45 p.m. near the intersection of Corwith Avenue. Police said that volunteers from Bridgehampton Fire Rescue responded to the accident scene.

The victim was struck by a 2006 Chrysler minivan that remained at the scene, police said. Police said the driver was not injured.

The accident briefly closed the road from School Street to the Sag harbor-Bridgehampton Turnpike, police said.
