A teenage pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car Wednesday night in Dix Hills, officials said.

Abrar Shah Rahman, 16, of Dix Hills, was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with undisclosed injuries, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the accident on Wolf Hill Road at Caledonia Road was reported in a 911 call at about 9:45 p.m.

Police said the driver, Caitlyn Kennedy, 23, of Dix Hills, remained at the scene. Police said she was driving her 2007 Ford sedan east on Wolf Hill when she struck Rahman.

She has not been charged.

Firefighters and emergency medical responders from Dix Hills helped treat the injured teen, a Dix Hills Fire Department spokesman said.

An engine, ambulance, paramedic unit, first responder and three heavy rescue trucks responded to the scene under the command of Chiefs Tom Napolitano and Alan Berkowitz, the fire department spokesman said.

Police asked anyone with information about the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will remain confidential.
