Pedestrian killed crossing Rte. 110 in E. Farmingdale

A Lindenhurst woman died after she was struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross Route 110 in East Farmingdale early Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.

Barbara Tyszkiewicz, 34, who had just left the Crazy Donkey nightclub, was crossing the street to meet friends at 3:20 a.m. when she was struck by a northbound 2003 Dodge pickup. She was hit at the intersection of Route 110 and Grumman Lane.

The driver, Glen Mason, 44, of Lindenhurst, had a green light, said Det. Sgt. Bruce Markgraf. Mason, who was on his way to work, swerved but couldn't avoid her, Markgraf said.

Tyszkiewicz was taken to New Island Hospital in Bethpage, where she died. Her family could not be reached Sunday. The pickup was impounded for a safety check.
