A woman and her daughter escaped without injury after a fire engulfed a house in West Babylon early Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

Police received a call at about 1:21 a.m. about the fire, which began in the rear of the house on 16th Street, a spokeswoman said.

Photos from the scene show smoke billowing from the home's windows and doors.

The woman and teenage daughter left the house safely with no injuries before the structure was fully engulfed, police said. The West Babylon, East Farmingdale and Babylon fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the flames.

The cause of the fire was unknown, and arson investigators are at scene.
