A Brentwood man robbed 12 gas stations in Suffolk County in a two-month span, police said Friday.
David Murphy, 30, of 25 Kaymac St., was arrested Wednesday and charged with seven counts of first-degree robbery and five counts of second-degree robbery, Suffolk County police said.
Murphy entered the Express Gas at 1034 Islip Ave. at about 10:55 p.m. and robbed the clerk of cash, police said.
He was arrested by police a short time after the robbery, and then detectives investigating a series of similar robberies determined Murphy was responsible for 11 other robberies, beginning on Aug. 20, police said.
Murphy robbed the same station in Copiague four different times, police said.
Murphy was taken to the Seventh Precinct in Shirley and was arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip. He was held on a bail of $2.4 million bond or $1.2 million cash. His attorney could not be immediately reached for comment Friday evening.

Wave Gas, 1680 N. Ocean Ave., Holtsville, on Sept. 2.
Shell Gas, 1000 Motor Pkwy., Central Islip, on Sept. 13.
Shell Gas, 642 Motor Pkwy., Brentwood, on Sept. 21.
Stop and Fuel, 1171 N. Service Rd., Sunrise Hwy., Bay Shore on Sept. 30.
Mobil Gas, 700 Motor Pkwy., Hauppauge, on Oct. 3.
Mobil Gas, N. Service Rd., Sunrise Hwy., Islip Terrace, on Oct. 10.
Gulf Quick Mart, 750 Motor Pkwy., Brentwood, on Oct. 17.
