Human remains were found in a wooded area of Brentwood, and Suffolk police said Monday Homicide Squad detectives were investigating.

The find, described as “skeletal remains,” was west of Emjay Boulevard and north of the Long Island Rail Road tracks, police said.

It was not clear if the remains were that of a man or a woman. Police said the medical examiner would make a determination.

It was not clear how long police believe the remains had been at the location.

Police said anyone with information could call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
