Police: Mom, daughter injured in Sunrise Highway crash

A mother and her 6-year-old daughter were injured late Friday when their car crashed into a median on Sunrise Highway in West Islip, Suffolk police said.

The female driver, 26, was operating a 1990 Toyota Corolla heading eastbound on Sunrise Highway at 11:45 p.m. when her car collided with the center median just before the Robert Moses Causeway, a police spokesman said.

Both mother and daughter were taken to a the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. No summonses or tickets were issued.
