Police seek men who took cellphone left at Riverhead McDonald's

Police are searching for a group of young men who were caught on surveillance video taking a lost cellphone left on the counter at a McDonald's on Flanders Road in Riverhead.

Suffolk County police said a woman accidentally left an iPhone 6 on the McDonald's counter between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on March 8.

Video surveillance from the store showed the men at the counter and police said one of those in the group, a man wearing a light-colored hoodie, is seen taking the cellphone -- and handing it to a man behind him, wearing a Nike cap. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
