Police: Tractor trailer jackknifes on Long Island Expressway

The driver of a jackknifed tractor trailer was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday, police said.

His condition was not immediately known.

Suffolk County police said that driver, Christopher Keller, 38, of Farmingville, told investigators he was headed eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when an unknown vehicle cut him off between Exit 51 and Exit 52, in Dix Hills sending the truck into a skid and causing it to jackknife across the left and HOV lanes at 5:35 a.m. Keller was taken to the hospital by Dix Hills Ambulance.

The two lanes were closed from about the time of the accident to 8:30 a.m., according to informny.com, the state Department of Transportation website, where traffic cameras showed the tractor trailer had been removed.

The other vehicle has not been located.
