Pooch Pad fire put out with no injuries, officials say

No animals were hurt in a fire that damaged a pet grooming shop in East Islip early Thursday, Suffolk County police and fire officials said.

The fire at the Pooch Pad on Carleton Avenue was reported in a 911 call at 1:35 a.m. Fire officials said firefighters from East Islip and Islip Terrace responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze without incident, while firefighters from Great River covered other calls. The building was unoccupied at the time.

Officials said that no animals were present.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
