Suffolk County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Wyandanch on Monday.
Police said in a news release that Raina Campbell, 48, of Wyandanch, was walking west on East Booker Avenue at about 6:56 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle, also traveling west.
Campbell was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead.
The vehicle fled toward Straight Path and may have front-end damage, police said. The release did not have any other description of the vehicle.
Danielle Bonaparte, who identified herself as the victim's sister in an interview with News 12 Long Island, said Campbell helped raise her after their mother died.
"She was everything to me," Bonaparte said. "She's always been there for us . . . I'm just in shock right now."
