A Sound Beach man was killed Saturday morning after his pickup truck crashed into a utility pole.

Police said Richard Cambria, 49, of Islip Drive, was driving a 2011 Dodge pickup south on Islip Drive in Sound Beach when the truck veered off the road shortly before noon and struck a utility pole and a retaining wall.

Suffolk County police said Cambria was taken by a Sound Beach Fire Department ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was declared dead.

The pickup was impounded for a safety check. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call 631-852-8752.
