A Deer Park man was drunk Tuesday night when he led Suffolk County police on a pursuit that ended in a two-vehicle crash in Dix Hills, police said.

Richard Rossano, 23, who had minor injuries in the crash, is charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned later, police said.

He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he is being treated.

Police said an officer tried to begin a "routine" traffic stop of a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 at Carlls Path and Grand Boulevard in Deer Park at about 10 p.m.

The officer lost sight of the Mercedes but found it again in Dix Hills at northbound Carlls Straight Path and the Long Island Expressway overpass, where it hit a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, police said.

The driver of the Dodge and his son, 9, who was a passenger, were transported to Huntington Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said.
