A Ridge man sustained serious injuries Monday after crashing his car into the center median of Route 347 in Mount Sinai and slamming into trees, Suffolk police said.

The 61-year-old driver was going west in his Hyundai when he suffered a medical emergency near Hallock Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m., police said. Police did not release his name.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. No alcohol or drugs were involved, police said.
