Cops: Pedestrian struck on Route 109 in West Babylon

Authorities are investigating a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in West Babylon on Thursday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Police said at about 4:20 a.m. Donald Moses was walking on southbound Route 109, 200 feet north of Great East Neck Road, when he was struck by a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Cruz.

Moses, 71, was taken by West Babylon Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of “serious injuries,” police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Anthony Giordano, 61, of West Babylon, was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
