Sag Harbor man faces impaired driving charge

A Sag Harbor man has been arrested on an impaired driving charge after Southampton Town police found him in possession of marijuana, police said.

Michael J. Lederman, 52, was driving on Millstone Road in Water Mill about 5:07 p.m. Sunday, a department release said, when "police observed him operating his vehicle while unable to maintain the travel portion of the roadway."

After stopping Lederman, police said he was under the influence of marijuana and he also was found to have an undisclosed amount of it in his possession.

He is charged with operating a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs and possession of marijuana, police said.

He was held overnight and scheduled for arraignment Monday in Southampton Justice Court.

In another case, police also said a Riverhead man faces charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and seat-belt and insurance infractions.

Roy Stokley III, 30, was arrested about 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 24 after driving on Flanders Road and Whitebrook Driver in Riverside, police said.

He was first stopped for driving without wearing his seat belt, police said. Further investigation revealed his license and registration were suspended and he did not have insurance, police said.

He was released on an appearance ticket, police said.
