Suffolk County police arrested a man wanted by North Carolina authorities on aggravated assault charges Friday night.

Shaki Darrell Jones, 26, of North Carolina, was taken into custody by Suffolk police's Robbery Task Force at about 9:30 p.m. on Cranberry Drive in Mastic Beach, police said.

Jones is believed to be a member of the Nine Trey Gangstas, part of the Bloods street gang network, police said.

Jones was wanted on six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with a shooting in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, on April 1, police said. Jones has also been charged with second-degree criminal impersonation for allegedly lying to Suffolk police about his identity.

He is being held at First District Court in Central Islip while extradition proceedings begin, police said.
