Police: Pickup driver charged with DWI in crash that injured motorcyclist in Wyandanch

A North Babylon man was driving drunk with a suspended license in a head-on crash Thursday that seriously injured a motorcyclist, Suffolk County police said.

Shaun Boyd, 38, of Brooklyn Avenue, is charged with driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, because of the crash in Wyandanch at about 7:30 p.m., police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The motorcyclist, Fred Hubbard, 52, of Wyandanch, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was listed in serious condition with a leg injury, police said.

In a news release, police said Hubbard was riding his 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle north on Remsen Place when he collided head-on with a 1995 Dodge Ram pickup truck that Boyd was driving.

Boyd, who was not injured, had just made a right turn from Cumberbach Street when the crash occurred, police said.

Detectives are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
