A Hampton Bays man armed with a shotgun who broke into an unoccupied fire department building faces weapons and burglary charges, Southampton Town police said Friday.
Shawn Stockert, 29, broke into the East Quogue Fire Department at 465 Main St. at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said in a news release.
He broke several glass doors and windows while inside and injured himself in the process, police said. Police did not describe the extent of the injuries.
Stockert was treated and released from Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, police said.
He is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal mischief.
His arraignment information was not immediately available.
