A bicyclist sustained serious head injuries after a collision with a pickup truck late Wednesday in Shirley, police said.

Suffolk County police said the accident occurred on southbound William Floyd Parkway at Stuart Road at 10:07 p.m.

Police said a 2014 Dodge pickup truck driven by a woman, whose identity was not released because she was not charged, was turning left on Stuart when her truck collided with the bicyclist, whose name also was not released.

The bicyclist was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known Thursday.
