Single engine plane's wheel collapses at MacArthur

A small, single-engine plane was preparing for takeoff at Long Island MacArthur Airport Tuesday afternoon when its right wheel collapsed, airport spokeswoman Catherine Green said.

Three people aboard the Piper Cherokee plane - the pilot and two students - were uninjured, Green said.

The incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on a general aviation runway. It did not affect commercial flights, Green said.
