Southampton police try to ID victim of fatal car strike near Flanders

Southampton Town Police said Sunday they are trying to identify a man who was fatally struck by a car Saturday in the Flanders area.

Officials said the man was struck about 12:30 a.m. on State Route 24, near the 7-Eleven store at Cypress Avenue.

The man was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Southampton Police are asking the public's help in identifying the man. He is described as 5-foot-1, 149 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to reside somewhere in the Flanders area. Anyone with information can call Southampton police at 631-702-2230.
