Police: Jericho man drunk when he drove Maserati wrong way in expressway's HOV lane

A Jericho man was drunk when he drove his 2015 Maserati the wrong way near Exit 53 on the Long Island Expressway early Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.

Stuart Zeiff, 64, was driving west on the eastbound LIE, near the border of Commack and Dix Hills, at about 1:35 a.m. when Highway Patrol Officer Robert Scudellari stopped the car, police said.

Scudellari was driving east and saw Zeiff's Maserati traveling west in the eastbound high-occupancy vehicle lane, according to police.

Zeiff was found to be intoxicated and was arrested, police said. He also was issued multiple tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Zeiff was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
