A pickup-truck driver rammed the vehicle into a house in Bayport on Friday night, causing "extensive damage," according to a Suffolk County fire and rescue official.

The driver "self extricated" from the truck but wasn’t injured, and an email statement from Jamie Atkinson, Suffolk Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services deputy coordinator, didn’t say whether the house at Montauk Highway and Snedecor Avenue was occupied at the time.

Bayport Fire Department and Community Ambulance responded to a call around 10:55 p.m., where rescuers found "extensive damage," the email said. "The structure was temporarily stabilized due to the damage," according to the email, which didn’t name the driver or provide the cause of the crash.

Islip Town placed fencing up to secure the area from pedestrian traffic. Atkinson wrote in the email that all units were released from the scene at 1:30 a.m. and Montauk Highway was reopened.
