A patrol officer trying to make a U-turn collided with another vehicle Wednesday in Huntington Village and was taken to a hospital, Suffolk police said.

He was going east on Main Street near Stewart Avenue and trying to turn around when he struck an eastbound 2006 Hyundai sport utility vehicle about 12:45 p.m., police said.

The SUV driver was not injured, but the officer was taken to Huntington Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

At the scene, damage could be seen on the police car's two driver's side doors.

Westbound Main Street was shut down for about two hours as crime scene investigators and police took photos and evidence. Other details were not immediately available.
