Suffolk County police said they are looking into reports that flyers from a white supremacist group have been circulating in two South Shore communities.
Two flyers from the hate group Vanguard America were found in Bay Shore and another was spotted at the Islip train station, News 12 Long Island reported.
“The Suffolk County Police Department has been notified about the flyers posted today,” Assistant Police Commissioner Justin Meyers said in a statement late Monday.
“While these flyers are protected speech under the first amendment, anytime hateful speech or materials that could incite violence are distributed in Suffolk County, the SCPD looks into them,” Meyers said.
News 12 said the flyers — showing two white faces and the words “we have a right to exist” — have since been taken down.
