A stretch of westbound Route 27 in Sayville will be partially closed Tuesday for an emergency bridge inspection, the state Department of Transportation said.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., one or two lanes of Route 27, Sunrise Highway, will be closed near Lincoln Avenue with a single lane open to motorists, the agency said.
Also, the entrance ramp to westbound Route 27 will be closed.
The lane closures are needed for “a thorough emergency bridge inspection to assess the extent of the damage caused by an undocumented bridge hit by an errant vehicle,” the agency said.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and to drive carefully through the work zone, the agency said.
