Suspect wanted in $5G worth of fraudulent gas station purchases

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are seeking the public's help to identify and locate a man who used a fraudulent credit card several times between Dec. 20, 2014 and Jan. 19, 2015 at the Gulf gas station at 750 Motor Pkwy. in Brentwood. Credit: SCPD

He wore a pink jacket and used a fraudulent credit card to rack up about $5,000 in illegal purchases at a Brentwood gas station in a one-month period between Dec. 20 and Jan. 19, police said.

During that time, Suffolk County police said, he also provided investigators with some pretty good evidence -- including surveillance video of the white van he drove, with identifying information on the side.

Now, police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.

Police said the fraudulent purchases occurred at the Gulf station on Motor Parkway and that the suspect charged about $5,000 worth of gasoline, cigarettes and other items during the month in question. It was not immediately clear how many times the man is alleged to have used the card during that period.
