A Chevrolet Tahoe and the motor home that it was pulling both overturned Monday in Westhampton, causing a temporary westbound closure of Sunrise Highway at County Highway 31, west of the Exit 63 ramp, state police said.
The Tahoe may have been speeding after coming off the exit ramp, and began swerving back and forth, police said. The driver couldn't control the motor home or the vehicle, and the motor home overturned, causing the vehicle to then also overturn around 6 p.m., state police said.
The camper came to a rest in the far left lane and the SUV was in the center median, state police said.
One westbound lane was closed because the camper was blocking traffic and then all westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway were shut down for about 15 minutes, reopening around 6:40 p.m., state police said.
No major injuries were reported and no criminality was suspected, state police said.
