Three Middle Island women who had a baby and a teen with them were arrested Monday for allegedly stealing merchandise from the Target store in South Setauket, police said.
Store security notified Suffolk County police at about 5 p.m. that the women, suspected in previous thefts, were in the store. Security monitors showed the three women leave the store without paying for various items, police said.
Police arrested Shalmeeka Hollman, 23, who had her 5-month-old son with her; Tenayah Dawson, 17, who had a 14-year-old niece with her; and Shenita Cullins, 19.
Each woman was charged with grand larceny. Hollman and Dawson also were charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The children were released to relatives.
The three were scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
