Three teens seriously hurt in Oakdale crash

Three teenagers were seriously injured late Tuesday in a one-car crash on Locust Avenue in Oakdale, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine if wet road conditions were a factor in the accident, in which the car crossed the double-yellow center line and struck a utility pole, Suffolk County police said.

One of the teens was ejected from the vehicle, police said.

Police said the other two, the male driver and a female rear-seat passenger, had to be extricated. The crash occurred near the intersection of Locust and Bourne Boulevard at 11:19 p.m.

The car, a 1998 Ford Mustang driven by James Conway, 18, of Oakdale, was headed north on Locust when Conway lost control, crossed over into the southbound lanes and struck the pole, police said.

The front-seat passenger, identified by police as Conal Orgonas, 17, of Bohemia, was ejected from the vehicle, police said. Conway and passenger Jessica Napolitano, 18, of Oakdale, were trapped in the car -- and had to be extricated by volunteers from the West Sayville Fire Department.

Police said the three teens were transported by Community Ambulance Company of Sayville to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where all three were in serious condition.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Fifth Squad detectives at 631-854-8552. All calls will remain confidential.
