Toddler hospitalized after cord entanglement accident

A 2-year-old Holtsville toddler who became entangled in cords on the Venetian blinds in his home remained in intensive care Friday evening at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Suffolk police said.

The boy's father, who police did not name, found the boy in a room in the house Friday afternoon and began CPR.

Police said they do not know how long the toddler had not been breathing when his father found him.

Neighbors said the boy's father is a New York City correction officer and he and his wife have three young children.

"They're doting parents," said neighbor Michael Petrozza, 65.

Petrozza and other neighbors said they pray that the boy makes a full recovery.

"I hope the kid will be all right," said Joseph Miata, 57, a neighbor.
