Brookhaven Town officials plan to demolish three abandoned South Shore homes in the next two months.

Officials said the three Mastic houses are unsafe and pose a public threat. They have been scheduled to be torn down this month or in October.

"We are working every day to give people the quality of life they deserve," town Councilman Dan Panico, who represents the area, said Monday.

Town board members approved the decisions after holding public hearings at their meeting on Thursday.

Also at that meeting, Brookhaven officials agreed to enter into a municipal agreement with the Patchogue Fire District to tear down a house on Jennings Avenue adjacent to the district building.
