Two hurt in Lindenhurst car crash

Two drivers were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip Tuesday with non-life-threatening injuries suffered in an accident on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst, police said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred just before 8:30 p.m.

Police said there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police did not release the identities of either driver. No one was charged in the crash.

The accident occurred when a Mercury Mountaineer SUV traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway rear-ended a Toyota Corolla stopped for a red light at the intersection of Straight Path, police said.

The driver of the Toyota suffered broken bones and a head injury, police said, while the driver of the Mountaineer suffered a head injury.

The road was closed for about one hour, police said.
