Woman, 62, dies in SUV collision in Bellport, cops say

An East Patchogue woman was killed Monday afternoon when her SUV collided with another sport utility vehicle in Bellport, Suffolk police said.

Fifth Squad detectives said Geraldine Schneider, 62, was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office at the scene of the 1 p.m. crash at Station Road and Farber Drive.

Detectives said Schneider was pulling out of an industrial park in her 2001 Ford Explorer when her vehicle collided with a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Muriel Erickson, 79, of East Setauket.

Erickson and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue by South Country Ambulance and were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and released, police said.
