The good and bad of the blizzard of '09

The bad news

We got an awful lot of snow - 26.3 inches at Long Island's official

measuring station in Upton - which stalled or even stopped some of yesterday's activities.

People who had to get to work or other essential destinations drove through hazardous conditions.

Many side roads

remained unplowed late yesterday afternoon.

Shopping took a hit on a day some retailers say is as important to their business as Black Friday - the Sunday before Christmas.
