From Deer Park to the north to Babylon Village, Lindenhurst and beaches to the south, the Town of Babylon has plenty of must-see attractions. We highlight some of those here. And as always, if you know of a place worth adding to our list, leave a comment.
Babylon Old Town Hall
Old Town Hall hosts the Town of Babylon's History Museum, which includes historical photographs, a grand stairway, an old courtroom and jail cells. Yes, jail cells. During the holiday season, volunteers put together a train exhibit. The building itself was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
Phelps Lane Park
The Town of Babylon's Parks and Recreation Department headquarters is situated within the North Babylon park behind the high school. Nice working conditions, indeed. There are playgrounds, sports fields and a pool that includes a couple of tall slides. Or, if you'd like, take a seat and simply enjoy the view.
One of Babylon's great water parks is Venetian Shores in Lindenhurst, where you will find a large interactive spray park with a mushroom fountain, overhead dump buckets, water sprayers and more. The town also operates the fairly new Geiger Park in Wyandanch and Tanner Park in Copiague.
Argyle Lake Park
Here, an attendee at the Babylon Village Country Fair stops to take a photo of swans in Argyle Lake. It's a scene that plays out nearly every day at the park, which is nestled right in downtown Babylon Village.
Southards Pond is 19 acres of paradise just south of Sunrise Highway in Babylon Village, right along the North Babylon border. Fishing, walking and jogging trails, and foot bridges make Southards worth the drive.
It's Rockefeller Center in Deer Park. Alright, that's pushing it, but the tree and ice rink — along with plenty of shopping deals — make Tanger Outlet in Deer Park a spot worth visiting.
Belmont Lake State Park
Belmont Lake State Park, right off the Southern State Parkway, is a must-visit in town. On the West Babylon — North Babylon border, the park includes walking trails, paddle boats, picnic areas and plenty of open space.
One of Babylon's great beaches is Overlook Beach, which is pictured here. Overlook, along with Tanner Park, hosts events during the town's Summer Concert Series.
Village of Lindenhurst
The Village of Lindenhurst is one of two incorporated villages in Babylon Town. While it is lesser known than Babylon Village, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants worth visiting.
